Color Photographs

Prints of the color images you have seen in the exhibit are available in two formats:

High-Resolution Laser/LCD Prints on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper
Only the images listed in the table below are available in this format. Fuji Crystal Archive prints embody the highest possible resolution and color range, and have been rated to last 60 years under normal display conditions by Wilhelm Imaging, the industry standard test service for print longevity.

Giclée Prints on Moab Entrada paper
Giclée prints on this high-quality heavyweight watercolor paper have been rated by Wilhelm Imaging not to show noticeable fading for in excess of 50 years.

I
mage quality
All images seen on this website are at best poor substitutes for the real thing. We have done our best to match these Web-scale images to the original prints. A web display can never match the subtlety of a high-resolution digital print. For those of you that live/work in the Santa Fe area, or are visiting or passing through, Alan's prints can be seen in his studio.

Scanning
All images were digitally scanned using high-resolution scanners from color transparency originals. Those who are suspicious of the integrity of digitally produced prints may wish to read Alan's statement on digital prints.

M
atting
Fuji Crystal archive prints are matted with acid-free white matboard and delivered unframed. Giclée prints are on heavy watercolor stock which can be framed with or without matting, and are shipped unmatted. For greatest print longevity, all photographic prints should be framed behind glass. Most images shown are available in sizes ranging from roughly 6.5X10 up to 13X20. Larger sizes can be made available on special order.

Prices
The following prices are for the most readily available sizes. Larger sizes may be purchased on special order:

1. Giclée Prints
All images are available as giclée prints on Moab Entrada paper in two (approximate) sizes:
6.5 x 10 and 12 x 18. The area of each print will vary slightly depending on the proportions of the original image.  All prints are shipped unmounted and unmatted.  The cost for the 6.5 x 10 prints is $75 plus $10 for shipping. The cost for the 12 x 18 prints is $145 plus $15 for shipping.

2. Fuji Crystal Archive Paper
The following images are in stock, mounted and matted high-resolution laser/LCD prints on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper, at the image sizes (approximate) and prices indicated:

Black and White Photographs

The photographs in the Black and White Gallery on this site are available in very limited quantities.  All are printed on 8" x 10" paper, except for Church, Rockport, Maine, which is approximately 10" x 13".  The 8" x 10" prints crop to a finished mounted size of slightly larger than 7" x 9".

All the black and white prints are gelatin silver prints from 4" x 5" view camera negatives.  They were printed on Zone VI Brilliant paper, a silver-rich enlarging paper characterized by deep blacks and a broad tonal range.  The prints were toned in selenium, dry-mounted, and matted with 4-ply archival museum board.  The following prices apply:

8" x 10" --   $135

10" x 13" -- $155
